Project Overview
This project took place at a residential property in Ashtead, Surrey, where the clients had recently added a new extension. They requested that the extension and existing garage be rendered to match the finish of their main house. Our task was to deliver a high-quality silicone render system that would visually blend the new and existing structures. The chosen product was K-Rend, which had been used on the original house. We ensured a precise colour match to maintain a consistent and seamless exterior appearance.
Surface Preparation
To begin, we prepared all render surfaces by red gritting the new blockwork on the extension and the garage’s existing walls. This step was essential to control suction and create a strong mechanical key for the render to adhere properly. Careful surface preparation is a critical part of our process to ensure the longevity and performance of the finish.
Silicone Render System Application
Once preparation was complete, we carried out our proven 5-stage silicone render process, which included:
- Installing all necessary beads and trims
- Applying a reinforced base coat with embedded mesh
- Adding a second base coat and ruling it flat for uniformity
- Priming the surface with a silicone-based primer
- Finishing with a 1.5mm K-Rend silicone topcoat, colour-matched to the existing property
This method ensures a durable, weather-resistant, and breathable finish that also delivers a modern, clean aesthetic.
Final Result & Client Feedback
The finished result was a flawless, colour-matched render that tied the new extension and garage seamlessly into the original structure. The clients were extremely pleased with the outcome, especially noting the smooth finish, attention to detail, and the tidiness of the site upon completion. Their satisfaction reflects our commitment to quality craftsmanship and professional site conduct on every job.
