Project Overview
This project involved providing a high-quality plaster skim finish throughout a uniquely designed new build in Gomshall, Guildford. The property, designed by a private architect, featured distinctive architectural elements such as exposed oak beams and vaulted, sloped ceilings. Our team was brought in to carry out the internal finishing to a professional standard that would complement the property’s bespoke design.
Surface Protection & Preparation
Due to the presence of exposed oak features, meticulous preparation was required before any plastering began. We carefully masked and protected all beams and surrounding timber to prevent any plaster contamination. Attention to detail in this phase was crucial to preserving the natural timber aesthetic and ensuring a clean, crisp finish.
Plastering & Access Work
The property’s high ceilings and sloping walls meant much of the work was completed using towers and access platforms. Our experienced plasterers applied a smooth multi-finish skim across all internal walls and ceilings, navigating around structural features and maintaining a sharp standard of work throughout. The complexity of the design required both technical skill and a deep understanding of surface flow and consistency.
Final Result & Project Satisfaction
The finished project was both challenging and highly rewarding. The crisp plaster finish contrasted beautifully with the oak detailing, showcasing the clean lines of the architectural design. The client was extremely pleased with the result, particularly in how the workmanship respected and enhanced the unique features of the space.
